Here is my impression on one of the announced ten Finalists for the seventh-annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund initiative. The winners are provided financial support and business mentorship. $200k prize awarded!!!
JOSEPH ALTUZARRA
The vicious hunters of black yetis were making their way to the catwalk, presenting their dead prey with satisfaction. The dark mass of faux-fur was gently coiffed, on their collars reflecting their glimpse of proud. Trench coats, sharp tailoring all this attached by belts; suggesting the madness and confusion of their lives. The collection was like a story.
At first hunters and then mental patients (Edward scissor hand fantasy) galloping through to finish with flowing red-blood velvet gowns. This was giving you the illusion of blood surf gorily glittering through the catwalk. This show was not my cup of tea, to gloomy and vile. This could have been a typical Givenchy’s collection; this is why, the fact that Mr Altuzarra, used to work for the house, did not surprised me at all.
“The fantastical and the fairy tale like with the modern and the urban.” - Joseph Altuzarra
